WildFlower is a cell phone case company that makes beautifully creative handmade cases (Madison and I both purchased two each…). There were many I had never heard of like Tangle Teezer, YesTo, Soap and Glory, and one of my new favorites, WildFlower. I thought Beaut圜on was particularly interesting because it showcased dozens of “challenger brands” rather than just the big players like Garnier, L’Oreal, and Maybelline. We saw her briefly, but we couldn’t get a picture with her because she was surrounded by adoring fans. Garnier even had Karen Gonzalez (a beauty influencer with 3M followers on Instagram alone) stop by periodically to attract fans to the booth. After posting on Instagram, we had the option of having a stylist do our hair using Garnier products, AND we could pose for a picture in front of the Garnier succulent wall. The result was that Garnier was able to create hundreds of pieces of UGC (user generated content) in a day. They had an entire “set,” complete with props and a backdrop that we could use to make our photos artistic and clean like the Garnier brand image.

In order to receive free product, they asked us to create an Instagram post. One of the booths that had a notable approach to gifting product and attracting fans was Garnier. Brands like NYX, Completely Bare, Garnier, and Absolute NYC were handing out full-size merchandise – and to receive it, all we had to do was follow the brand or share a post on social. When we walked into the venue, it was an overwhelming mixture of people, bright colors, blaring pop music, and products galore. After much anticipation, we were on our way to the epicenter of all things social and beauty.

We donned our futuristic wristbands, skipped the line of general attendees, and were immediately handed weighty tote bags full of goodies. Madison and I looked at each other, both relieved we had purchased the early entry package. Some were sitting on the ground, tired of standing for what had likely been much of the morning. As Madison and I drove up to Beaut圜on NYC at New York City’s Pier 36, we saw a line of women and girls that spanned blocks.
